Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and in the past, she taught cooking. The host of her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Ann Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef and her signature sparkling blonde locks, and her bubbly up personality, reveals simple techniques that anyone can master. Chef Burrell worked at top New York restaurants and studied Italian food traditions and landscape. She also competed in Food Network's Iron Chef America. When she was growing up in the Upstate New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for culinary arts and food at the age of a child. The Culinary Institute of America was the next stop to take after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a wonderful opportunity for me. It was impossible to learn about, practice or do all the things I did. When I graduated, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. The chef gained an understanding of Italian culture and cuisine during her stay in Italy that has informed the way she cooks. Burrell is a well-known ambassador to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids with disabilities. She frequently travels around the nation in her capacity as both a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her profession and her love for cooking. Anne has stated throughout her culinary career that she feels so fortunate to be able share with others what is essential for her.
