Sara Ramirez

  Sara Elena Ramirez (Spanish born August 31 1975) is an actor from Mexico and singer. Born in Mazatlan in Sinaloa, Ramirez immigrated to the United States when she was eight years old. She became an actor and a singer in TV and film. Ramirez was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in Musical for their portrayal in the role of Lady of the Lake in Spamalot in 2005. Ramirez was asked to pick their own primetime show from the variety of ABC lineups. They decided to go with Grey's Anatomy. They played the role of Dr. Callie Torres (the longest-running LGBT character on US TV) for 11 seasons and 239 episodes. Ramirez's voluntary addition of his bisexuality character to the series was one of the first regular queer roles on primetime television. Ramirez became bisexual, and later, non-binary after the end of the series. He/she used they/them pronouns. Later, they played the roles of Kat Sandoval, a bisexual and non-binary character in Madam Secretary and Che Diaz, in And Just Like That ..., and And Just Like That, respectively. Ramirez also voiced Queen Miranda in the animated show Sofia the First (2012)-2018. The first single by Ramirez, "Silent Night", was released in the year 2009. Their self-titled EP debuted at no. 37 on the Billboard 200 for 2011.
