Alyson Lee Hannigan was born on March 24, 1974. She is an American actress and television host. She is best known for her role as Willow Rosenberg in the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003), as Lily Aldrin in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014) for which she received a People's Choice Award in 2009, and as Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie film series (1999-2012). Hannigan hosts the television series Penn Teller: Fool Us since 2016. Teller: Fool Us since 2016. She also voice of Claire Clancy in the Disney Junior animated series Fancy Nancy (2018-present). Hannigan was the only child of Emilie (Posner) Haas, an agent in real estate and Alan Hannigan, a Teamsters worker. Hannigan's mother is Jewish and her father is Irish. At age four, Hannigan began appearing in commercials. When she was 11 Hannigan relocated to Hollywood with her mother. While in Santa Barbara, her father had her audition for agents. After graduating from high school, she went to California State University, Northridge in which she was part of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and earned a degree in psychology.
