  Anna Maria Chlumsky ( born December 3, 1980 [2Anna Maria Chlumsky was born on December 3, 1980 ([2) is an American actress. As a youngster, she began acting. Her most famous work is for her performance as Vada in the 1991 film My Girl and its sequel 1994. In the wake of her initial roles, she went on her absence from 1999 to 2005 to go to college.Chlumsky returned to acting with the roles she played in a variety of independent films that included Blood Car (2007) and In the Loop (2009). She played Amy Brookheimer on the HBO TV series Veep (2012-2019), which earned her six nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the field of Comedy Series among other accolades.Chlumsky was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Nancy (nee Zuncic) she was a singer actress, actor, and former flight attendant, and Frank Chlumsky Jr., an entrepreneur and saxophone player. Her family was an orthodox Catholic family. Chlumsky is from Croatian and Czech descent. Chlumsky was forced to stop acting to go to the University of Chicago, graduating with an Associate of Arts in International Studies in 2002. After graduation Chlumsky was subsequently employed by the Zagat Survey as a fact-checker. She then moved to New York City as an editor's assistant for the HarperCollins science-fantasy imprint. But, she found her experience working in the publishing industry to be disappointing and unsatisfying. After she completed her education at the Atlantic Acting School, Chlumsky returned to acting. She was a part of Mary Calvin on a season 17 episode. Lisa Klein appeared in an episode from series 20.
