Sutton Foster

  Sutton Lenore Foster, born on March 18, 1975, is an American actress. She is also a vocalist and dancer. Her performances on Broadway is what made her famous. She won the Tony Award in 2002 for Millie Dillmount's performance in Thoroughly Modern Millie and 2011 for her role in Anything Goes as Reno Sweeney. This role was a reprised role that she played in London in 2021. In that year, she was nominated to the Laurence Olivier Award as Best Actress for a Musical. Other Broadway credits include Little Women, The Drowsy Chaperone, Young Frankenstein, Shrek the Musical, Violet and The Music Man. Foster was the lead in the ABC Family comedy-drama Bunheads which was on the air from 2012 until 2013. From 2015 to 2021 she was a part of the TV Land comedy-drama Younger. Foster was born in Statesboro, Georgia on March 18, 1975. She was raised in Troy, Michigan. At the age of 15 she appeared on the reality TV show Star Searchand was also a part of the actors of The Mickey Mouse Club. She left Troy High School before graduating (she obtained her diploma through correspondence classes) to take part in the national tour of The Will Rogers Follies directed by Tommy Tune. After finishing her one-year course study at Carnegie Mellon University, she decided to pursue a full-time job in the field of theatre. She was awarded an honorary doctorate by Ball State University in May 2012. The award was "in honor of her remarkable professional career as an actor, television producer, and her contributions to the professional and educational development of Ball State students." Her brother, Hunter Foster, is also an actor.
