Rachel Levin

  Rachel Leland Levine was born October 28 the 28th of October, 1957. She is an American pediatrician. She has been the United States assistant secretary for health since March 26, 2021.She is an associate professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine and was previously the Pennsylvania physician general from 2015 until 2017 and as secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health from 2017 to 2021. Levine is among a few openly transgender official within the United States, and is the first to hold an position that requires Senate confirmation.On October 19, 2021, Levine was the first transgender, openly gay four-star official in the country's eight uniformed services. Levine was born in Massachusetts on the 28th of October 1957. Melvin Levine and Lillian Levine were both lawyers. Bonnie Levine is her older sister. Levine is Jewish and grew up attending Hebrew school. Levine earned his high school diploma at Belmont Hill School, Belmont, Massachusetts. He also graduated from Harvard College and Tulane University School of Medicine. Levine completed an internship as a pediatrician as well as a fellowship in medical education for adolescents at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Manhattan, New York.
