She's hosted Extra as well as E News, and served as a television correspondent for Today, Access Hollywood, and co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, Greece. AfterBuzz TV, an online podcast series, is a network she co-founded and is the CEO. She is currently an WWE ambassador and has been signed by the company since 2013. She hosts Conversations with Maria Menounos. Menounos was born in the Boston suburb of Medford, Massachusetts, to Greek immigrants' parents Costas and Litsa Menounos, who worked as janitors in the Boston nightclub. She has a younger brother named Peter. Menounos was a member of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Somerville, Massachusetts. She also went to Medford High School in Medford.In 1995, Menounos started to participate in beauty contests. She was selected Miss Massachusetts Teen USA the following year. In Miss Teen USA she placed in the top 15 and received an honorary mention at the preliminary competition. Menounos placed 13th in preliminaries. She competed for the title of Miss Massachusetts USA 2000, and was the runner-up.Menounos was a student at Boston's Emerson College, where she participated in the organization Emerson Independent Video. She received her degree from Emerson in 2000.
