Kaya Scodelario

  Kaya Rose Scodelario Davis (nee Humphrey) is an English actress. She is well-known for her role in Effy Stonem's E4 drama for teens Skins (2007–2010 and 2013), and Teresa in Maze Runner (2014-2018). The other roles she has played include Catherine Earnshaw in Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights (2011), Carina Smyth in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), Carole Ann Boone in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019), Haley Keller in Crawl (2019), Katarina Baker in the Netflix original series Spinning Out (2020) and Claire Redfield in Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City. Scodelario was born Kaya Rose Humphrey in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England. Katia Scodelario is her mother. She is a Brazilian accountant originally from Itu, Sao Paulo. Scodelario's Italian grandfather gave Scodelario her surname. Roger Humphrey was her father and passed away in November of 2010. Their first night together was spent in the streets. They later found an Holloway Road council flat. Scodelario took her mother's name and also spoke Portuguese at her house. She was a student at Bishop Douglass Catholic School and afterwards Islington Arts and Media School. She was a part of school plays and saw drama as an escape from bullying.Her mother was a single mother who worked several jobs to earn a living and she suffered from depression which increased during her teen years because of the stress. Scodelario said she was looking to help but didn't know how to help. She moved to Camden for a better relationship with her family.
