Jessica Barden

  Jessica Barden, born 21 July 1992, is an English actress from England. Her role as Alyssa in the Channel 4 comedy-drama series The End of the F***ing World (2017-19) is her most well-known. She has also made appearances in films like Hanna (2011), The Lobster (2015), The New Romantic (2018) and Pink Skies Ahead (2020). Barden was born on 21 July 1992 in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. When she was just three years old she moved with her parents to Wetherby, West Yorkshire. She attended the Wetherby High school. Her acting debut was in 1999, with a minor role in an episode of the television series My Parents Are Aliens. In the following years, she appeared in episodes on The Chase and No Angels. Her first role was as Kayleigh Morton in ITV's soap opera Coronation Street in March 2007. This role was continued until September 2008 when the Morton family left Coronation Street. In 2007, Barden made her feature film debut with Mrs Ratcliffe's Revival, a comedy-drama. In 2009, she performed the part of Pea in the stage production Jerusalem at the Royal Court Theatre in London before moving to the Apollo Theatre in the West End.In the year 2010, Barden made an appearance in the film Tamara Drewe, a dramatisation of the comic strip with the identical name. The following year , she portrayed the part as Sophie in the film Hanna. She was a part of the urban-themed horror film Comedown and In the Dark Half. In 2015, she was a part of the thriller mystery Mindscape. Barden also appeared in the 2014 independent film Lullaby. In July 2015, Barden played the role of Kit Carmichael in the BBC's two-part television adaptation of Sadie Jones' debut novel The Outcast. In the same year, she played the role of Liddy in a film adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd.
