Carly Rae

  Carly Rae Jepsen (born November 21, 1985) is a Canadian artist and singer. Jepsen was born in Mission, British Columbia. She played several leading roles in high school musicals. Jepsen then went on to study musical theatre at the Canadian College of Performing Arts, Victoria, British Columbia. After completing her studies and moving to Vancouver and later competed on the fifth season of Canadian Idol in 2007, which she placed third. Jepsen is a folk-oriented artist, released her debut album, Tug of War in 2008. She was later moved to Vancouver to compete on the fifth season of Canadian Idol 2007. In 2007, she was third. In the process, she was signed to a joint worldwide recording contract with School Boy Records and Interscope Records. The following year, Jepsen released Kiss, her second studio album. The album was more mainstream album that saw commercial success and made it to the top ten both in Canada and the United States. In 2014, Jepsen made her Broadway stage debut in the role of the title character in Cinderella. Emotion, her third studio album, was released the following year. It's notable for its influence from 1980s music and also for its blend of synth-pop and dance music with indie-inspired nuances. While it was not as commercially successful than Kiss's the lead single "I Really Love You" was a huge hit and received acclaim from critics. In the year 2016 Jepsen was featured on the television special Grease: Live and lent her voice to the animated film Ballerina. The fourth studio album she released, Dedicated, was released on May 17, 2019, as well as a follow-up album entitled Dedicated Side B was released within a year.
