Ana Cabrera

  Ana Cabrera, an American journalist and anchor for television born on 13 May 1982 in Denver. She is now working for CNN. Cabrera was raised in a Mexican-American family in Denver and graduated from Washington State University. After graduation, she was employed for NBC affiliate KHQ-TV in Spokane, Washington.She then returned to her home town to work as the morning anchor for KMGH-TV Channel 7 News in Denver which earned her an Emmy Award for her in-the-field reporting on the news team that was covering the High Park fire in 2012. The morning team was given the Associated Press TV and Radio Association's annual Mark Twain Award for Best Morning Show Broadcast in 2013. Cabrera began her career in 2013 as a CNN reporter in Denver. Then, she joined the CNN Investigative Team. In March of 2017, she was appointed anchor of CNN's Sunday prime-time news show, CNN Newsroom, succeeding Poppy Harlow. She covered stories such as the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville by white supremacists marijuana legalization, immigration as well as the attack on the London Bridge in 2017. She will be reporting on Wednesday afternoons at 1pm ET on CNN Newsroom in 2021. Cabrera is also a part of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She also serves on the board of the American Cancer Society.
